Job Title: Rights Assistant

Purpose and Scope of Position: Leading translation Rights Agency The Marsh Agency is looking for a Rights Assistant to join the translation rights sales team, representing The Marsh Agency clients in translation, reporting to the Sales Director. Responsibilities will encompass sales material preparation and administrative deal support, drafting of contracts, social media and departmental tasks.

  • Salary: £27,000
  • Hours of work: 9:30-17:30 Monday-Friday
  • Holiday: 25 days plus recognised national public holidays, and one paid personal wellness day
  • Season travel ticket loan and/or cycle to work loan
  • Summer working hours throughout June, July, and August
  • Hybrid working
  • Start date: 1st September 2026

Main duties and responsibilities:

Rights sales

  • Supporting the sales team in selling translation rights, leading to individual territory sales responsibility in time
  • After-sales support including cover approvals, author photographs, internal files, author travel and other requests

Sales material 

  • Creating and maintain Translation Rights Catalogues and marketing materials
  • Writing copy for sales submissions

Administrative support 

  • Save all material/publicity/information sent by clients in OneDrive
  • Update industry software Bradbury Phillips with title/author/proprietor/purchaser information

Contracts & permissions 

  • Drafting and reviewing sales contracts based on a provided template and issuing to publishers for review and incorporating agreed changes
  • Assisting with agency permissions requests

Book fairs

  • Book fairs – scheduling, organise tickets/tables, coordinate final Translation Rights Guides for email distribution and printing

Social media

  • Maintain The Marsh Agency website as required
  • Maintain social media channels
  • Create newsletter campaigns and maintain contact data on Mailchimp

Departmental 

  • Create team meeting agendas, take meeting minutes, and circulate minutes to attendees
  • General tasks to ensure the smooth running of the company

Knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Interest in sales and international publishing
  • The ability to build positive relationships and work closely with our extensive network of clients and customers
  • The ability to work independently but also closely with the agency team
  • Attention to detail and a high level of organisation is essential as is the ability to prioritise and manage a large workload efficiently
  • Friendly, approachable, problem-solving attitude
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with databases is preferable but not required
  • Fast learner, able to learn new software and new processes
